Derek Vejby is a lifelong Bay Area native and aviation enthusiast, who spent many childhood hours at airshows and aviation museums. Upon leaving the telecommunications industry, he made the choice to pursue a career in aviation, and quickly completed his pilot and instructor ratings. Having found a home at San Carlos Flight Center, he aims to always be improving his skillset and knowledge as a pilot and as a mentor to developing pilots. The process of both learning and teaching is a source of personal gratification, and he never stops working towards that next “ah-ha” moment when a student’s hard work and determination pay off towards new skill mastery. Derek believes that learning to fly is a pathway to cultivating greater self confidence and self actualization, and he can’t wait to help you get started on your journey.
