6B - Solo Flight Away from the Airport
Fly to and from the Practice Area for Simple Maneuver Practice

- Schedule a flight and inform your CFI
- Confirm weather is safe and meets solo limitations
- Depart the airport airspace and navigate to the practice area
- Practice climbs, descents, turns, straight and level at various airspeeds
- Complete maneuver setup and clear the practice area before maneuvers
- Practice steep turns, slow flight, and/or power-off stalls
- Discuss what you learned from the flight with your CFI
Completion Standards
When complete, the pilot
- can safely evaluate weather at the airport and the practice area.
- navigates to a safe area and altitude for solo maneuver practice.
- clears the practice area before every maneuver and maintains constant vigilance for other air traffic.
- safely practices the flight fundamentals, steep turns, slow flight, and power off stalls maintaining full positive control of the aircraft at all times.
- handles all unusual situations as they arise.
- is able to safely depart and return to the home airport following correct local procedures.
