- understands symptoms, hazards, and prevention techniques for hypoxia, hyperventilation, spatial disorientation, carbon monoxide poisoning, and other aeromedical hazards.
- understands human vision and how to effectively scan for traffic in both bright light and low light conditions.
- understands recommendations regarding supplemental oxygen use and restrictions on flight after SCUBA dives.
- understands all federal aviation regulations that relate to student solo cross-country flight.
- understands what actions are required for inoperative equipment.
- is able to interpret various visual glide path indicators.
- knows the meaning of ATC light gun signals in the air and on the ground.
