September 6 (Wed) 7:00pm 9 Ways I Almost Killed Myself

Event Date:
Wednesday, September 6, 2017 - 7:00pm

Pilots make mistakes, but hopefully they learn from them.  San Carlos Flight Center Chief Pilot, Dan Dyer tries to never make the same mistake twice.  In this seminar, Mr. Dyer recalls a flight he made from San Carlos, CA to Southern California as a new Private Pilot in which he ended up inside a cloud.  Luckily, he survived the flight and on the ground spent time analyzing the mistakes and poor decisions that led up to the emergency.

It’s always better to learn from someone else’s mistakes.  If you are ever concerned that you might accidentally fly into IMC without an instrument rating, we invite you to come and discuss the events and decisions from Mr. Dyer’s flight.  Perhaps you can prevent yourself from making these same mistakes, with a less favorable outcome.

Dan Dyer is the Chief Pilot of San Carlos Flight Center and has been instructing for 13 years.  He has almost 4,000 flight hours and is the Bay Area's local expert in crosswind landing instruction. He is known for finding simple and innovative ways to explain complex topics and regularly speaks on advanced ground school topics.  He co-founded and manages the Bay Area FlyOutGroup - a social club of over 400 pilots that meet for lunches, dinners, and other fun aerial adventures.
