October 17 (Wed) 7:00pm Flying Cross Country from Lincoln, Nebraska to San Carlos

Event Date:
Wednesday, October 17, 2018 - 7:00pm

It is said to fly general aviation you need to have a lot of time.  Instrument training really reinforces that concept as well as last minute flexibility.  To be a good pilot, you must always be willing to change your plans at the last minute. Hopefully an option will be an alternative you have already considered, but not always.

Kevin Petrie and a fellow pilot flew a Cessna 172  G1000 from Lincoln, Nebraska to San Carlos, California.  Every flight plan they developed for the journey got amended due to wind and poor weather.

Join Kevin Petrie, CFI, as he presents a real pilot story on when plan A doesn’t work out, what resources one has in the aircraft to make good navigation decisions, and how it affects the outcome of the flight. This will be especially valuable to those who fly G1000s.

Kevin had been dreaming of becoming a pilot since childhood. In 2011 he began his flight training and graduated from San Jose State University in 2016 with a degree in Aviation. Soon after finishing school, he completed his instrument, Commercial SEL and MEL, and received his instructor certificate.

He offers training for

  • Private Pilot

  • Commercial Pilot

  • High performance transition

  • Complex transition

  • G1000
