Join Tom Ricks, a VFR pilot for 42 years as he discusses his flight in his 1971 Cessna 182  to the Grand Canyon. He flew to the South Rim and as well as the BAR 10 Ranch on the North Rim.




Tom will discuss:

1. Accommodations in the area

2. Suggested air routes

3. What you might see along the way and suggested side trips

4, Charts needed and the Grand Canyon Special Flight Rules, and

5. Gear you may find useful


This will be a great way to prepare for the upcoming FOG trip weekend to the Grand Canyon May 25-27, 2018  

The Grand Canyon has a unique combinations of geologic color and a river 277 miles long and is a scenic wonder that can only be truly appreciated from above.


Tom is currently half way through is training for his instrument rating, and learned to fly in Southern California at Santa Monica 42 years ago, so bring you questions about the history of KSMO as well.


This event qualifies for FAA Wings credit.
