March 6 (Wed) 7pm - From Student Pilot to Airline Captain: Stumbling into the Best Job in the World

Event Date:
Wednesday, March 6, 2019 - 7:00pm

Many pilots in general aviation dream of making a living by flying airplanes and working as an airline pilot, but to go from GA to commercial aviation takes a lot of training. Do you have what it takes?

Join Captain Dell Outman as he shares his experience of becoming an airline pilot. In his presentation, he will share his journey of working his way from a student pilot to an airline captain. He will discuss what the job of an airline pilot entails, including the challenges and career outlook, as well as what it takes to succeed in this industry.

Dell Outman is a 737 Captain for Southwest Airlines based in Oakland. He learned to fly in college, and before working as an airline pilot, was a flight instructor, survey pilot, and corporate pilot. He has been an airline pilot for 22 years and has about 14,500 flight hours.
