January 31 (Wed) 7:00pm Get a 6-Pack Workout in just One Evening

Event Date:
Wednesday, January 31, 2018 - 7:00pm

When pilots first start flying, they learn enough about the basic flight instruments to read and interpret them in flight. You have learned a bit more, but it’s been a while. In this Ground School Refresher class, we’ll take a new and fresh look at the fundamental flight instruments, pushing a little deeper than you did as a student. Join us for a review and maybe even to learn something new.

Can you answer these questions? How is the altimeter compensated for differing weather conditions such as pressure and temperature? How does the airspeed indicator provide information about both indicated and true airspeed? Why does the heading indicator need to be synced with the magnetic compass while the attitude indicator aligns itself automatically?

Join herb Patten as he conducts an outstanding in depth review and given the winter season, the timing could not be better.

Herb Patten is an FAA certificated advanced and instrument ground instructor who teaches private pilot ground school at San Carlos Flight Center. He holds a private pilot certificate with an instrument rating, has over 800 hours and flown into 111 different California airports. He is co-founder of the Bay Area Student and New Pilot Support Group, and a board member of the Upwind Foundation, famous for its Upwind Summer Scholarship Program. In 2015, Herb was named a Master Instructor by the National Association of Flight Instructors.
