January 20 (Sat)12:00pm Flight Debrief in the Age of Technology

Event Date:
Saturday, January 20, 2018 - 12:00pm

Many times flying is like being the guest of honor during a ceremony.  There is lot to do, the time goes by quickly and you don’t remember the details.  You go home, try to recollect the evening’s events,  and it’s not until you see all the pictures, that you realize how much you forgot.

Want to get feedback on your last flight? Do you want to see how well you flew that last instrument approach into Livermore? Would you like to know if that pattern you flew at the airport was really as good as you remember? One way to do this is to fly with a CFI and get feedback on your performance but that option isn’t always available for every flight. We are fortunate that there is a lot of technology available to us in the cockpit. In this safety seminar, we will explore how to use technology for debriefing a flight.

There are several products that capture information about a flight. These products offer varying insight into the flight performance to help pilots debrief a flight. They integrate flight data with information from a comprehensive suite of aviation resources. Some analyze the flight using a rule-based knowledge engine, and presents the analysis via detail-rich interactive display. This ability to do post-flight debriefing, adds value to any flight training and enhances the flight experience. It’s like watching a video of yourself public speaking.  The opportunity to improve your skills is invaluable.

Join Stoo Davies and Herb Patten as they review some of their flights with and see for yourself the value it adds.

Herb Patten is an FAA certificated advanced and instrument ground instructor who teaches private pilot ground school at San Carlos Flight Center. He holds a private pilot certificate with an instrument rating, has over 800 hours and flown into 111 different California airports.
