August 3 (Wed) 7:00pm Lesson from a Long Cross Country: Colorado and Back

Event Date:
Wednesday, August 3, 2016 - 7:00pm

Having a pilot’s license affords us the privilege of flying almost anywhere we wish. Many pilots dream of flying low and slow across the country, and some aren’t sure where to begin planning such a big trip.

In this safety seminar, a group of SCFC Pilots and Instructors draws on their experience from a trip from San Carlos to Colorado and back with the FlyOutGroup (FOG). This year they head back to Colorado for some awesome Rocky Mountain flying.  The trip proved to be a great opportunity to complete your G1000 avionics or airplane-specific checkout and earn your high performance endorsement.

Included in the presentation will be:

  • An overview of the planned and actual route

  • Breakdown of the trip into individual  legs

  • Discuss conditions present on several leg (including existing and forecast weather, terrain and airspace)

  • Address principal planning issues for each trip leg

  • Discuss risks of planned flight and alternatives

  • Critique of actual flight flown and decisions made

  • Discuss resources used to complete each leg

Join us to get more insight into making your long cross-country dream trip a reality.
