January 3 (Wed) 7:00pm Buying Into an Airplane Partnership

Event Date:
Wednesday, January 3, 2018 - 7:00pm

At some time, most pilots consider owning their own plane.  Have you?  Because of the size of the expense and the risks associated, buying a plane can be as daunting as buying a small home.  What costs should you expect?  Will owning save you money over renting?  What about buying an airplane with partners?

In this seminar, Dan Dyer investigates buying into an airplane partnership.  He will discuss the how the costs of ownership decrease per person and the risks are shared.  He will talk about various airplane ownership methods used by the pilot members of San Carlos Flight Center, and how those partnerships fare over time.  If you have questions about buying and owning an airplane, this will be a chance for you to hear answers to those and other questions asked by pilots at your airport.

Mr. Dyer has been owner, and co-owner of four different aircraft, each with its own story and fiscal profile.  While every airplane is different, his hope is that you can learn from his adventures.

Dan Dyer is Chief Pilot of San Carlos Flight Center and has been instructing for 11 years, first in helicopter and now in airplanes. He has almost 4,000 flight hours and is the Bay Area's local expert in crosswind landing instruction. He is known for finding simple and innovative ways to explain complex topics and regularly speaks on advanced ground school topics.  He co-founded and manages the Bay Area FlyOutGroup - a social club of over 400 pilots that meet for lunches, dinners, and other fun aerial adventures.
